It's-a-me: Mario Bar!
February 15, 2008 | Scrollbar @ IT University of Copenhagen
| Scrollbar hosts the official weekly Fredagbar (Friday Bar) of IT University of Copenhagen. A number of us study games in the "Media, Technology, and Games" Masters program. Thus, we thought it only appropriate to embrace our inner geek and throw a Mario-themed night. We pooled our vast knowledge of mixing and alcohols (this is Denmark, after all) to craft ten unique Mario-theme drinks. They not only look like their corresponding characters, but they taste like them too! Okay, well, not actually like the characters themselves (we're not cannibals), but rather the qualities they imbue (e.g. sweet, harsh, frutiy, etc.). The most popular cocktail was the Yoshi. But all our recipes were very well-received. We encourage you to give them a try - but please credit us if you do! (Note: "cl" stands for centileter. Two cl approximately equals one "shot") Questions? Comments? Reach us at: pr (AT) scrollbar (DOT) dk |

Decorations | ||||||
| Stars, question-mark blocks, and bricks were created by cutting colored fabric, spray painting the pieces (using custom-made paper stencils), then sewing the pieces over foam. These decorations were then hung from strings that ran across the room. As a bonus, we hid chocolate coins on the top of the question-mark blocks. Yes, they could be redeemed for their value in drinks! Printed menus were placed on tables throughout Scrollbar so that patrons knew what special drinks were available. Finally, we projected videos of Mario speedruns and Kaizo Mario on the wall. | ||||||
